A razor comes in two variants: Straight razor and Shavette.

A traditional straight razor has a fixed blade that cannot be replaced. It is therefore essential that you clean, sharpen and care for it with a leather strap and sharpening paste when it starts to dull.

The advantage of a shavette is that you can try out a straight razor without having to maintain the blade. A shavette has a replaceable blade that simply needs to be changed when needed.
