Henson Shaving is a Canadian manufacturer known for their pioneering approach to shaving. The founders partnered with one of Canada's leading aerospace manufacturers to create a scraper of extraordinary precision. The result is an aerospace-grade aluminum scraper that provides uniform blade spacing and blade exposure and ensures a smooth and irritation-free shave every time. Henson Shaving offers their AL13 scraper in three different variants - MILD, MEDIUM and AGGRESSIVE - that cater to different beard types and preferences:
Technical details and difference between MILD, MEDIUM and AGGRESSIVE:
AL13 MILD - 0.68mm blade opening and 0.033mm blade exposure.
AL13 MEDIUM - 0.85mm blade opening and 0.058mm blade exposure.
AL13 AGGRESSIVE - 0.98 mm blade opening and 0.09 mm blade exposure.
With its ergonomic design and weight optimized for ease of use, the Henson Shaving scraper takes your shaving to a new level. Explore our selection of colors and find the scraper that suits you best.
Every component of the Henson scraper is precision machined to achieve extremely tight tolerances and incredibly high quality. The precision allows for consistent blade spacing and blade exposure, which minimizes irritation and provides a smoother shave every time. It's time to take your shaving to the next level - and feel the difference precision makes.
A collaboration with aerospace manufacturers
From the beginning, Henson Shaving has had a goal of manufacturing scrapers to perfection. Therefore, the founders sought out one of Canada's leading aerospace manufacturers who had sufficient precision and skills to build structural components for e.g. Mars Rover, International Space Station and low Earth satellite (LEO) programs.
They started a collaboration, and it turned out that it was certainly possible to produce an extremely precise scraper – but that it was an expensive pleasure. The next challenge was therefore to bring Aerospace quality into a scraper OG at an affordable price. Fortunately, the mission was accomplished!
A look a little further back in history
Henson Shaving's namesake, William Samuel Henson, was a former aeronautical engineer and inventor. Henson invented the modern form of the razor: the 'T' shaped DE razor, and patented it in 1847. However, further improvements were needed to make the DE razor usable by all.
In 1901, Gillette combined Henson's T-shaped DE razor with disposable blades and produced the modern razor as we know it. Since the early 1900s, the DE scraper has remained relatively unchanged, but the market has recently been flooded with manufacturers looking to jump on the eco-friendly trend.
As the individuals (who would soon end up starting Henson Shaving) began to look at the manufacturing options available, it became frustratingly clear that the “standard approaches” of molding and coating the scrapers lacked precision. Not exactly something you want in a scraper, as the precision is very important for the shave. The team behind Henson Shaving sought to find a solution to this problem.
