Safety Razor with fixed setting

What makes a traditional Safety Razor (Safety Razor) special is that it uses the classic square Razor Blades, which are sharp on both sides. The Razor only needs to be passed over the skin once to remove the stubble. This also means that many people get a much more comfortable shave without irritation.

We have a large, stylish range of Safety Razors in all price ranges. There are big differences in material, appearance, shape and design. What they all have in common, however, is that they feel good in the hand. Choose the one you think looks best and that you will be happy to have on display in your bathroom.

Considerations for a Safety Razor:

Open / Closed comb?

When buying a Safety Razor, you can choose to buy one with an open comb or a closed comb. What you choose is a matter of taste and depends on beard growth and facial skin type.

However, it's a good idea to start out with a closed comb. This is the most common type and will usually give you a more gentle shave. With a closed comb, you can easily get the technique down and achieve a great shave.

An open comb Razor, on the other hand, provides a more aggressive shave as the blade gets a bit closer to the stubble. It's particularly good for longer beards and multi-day stubble. It allows the stubble to get in between the comb, making it easier to achieve a close shave on these days.

Long handle?

Mühle's range includes the so-called "grande" Razors, which have a longer handle than the other Razors in the range. But we also have Razors from e.g. Merkur, which have a longer handle.

90% start with a standard size, but if you have extra large hands, you may want to choose a slightly larger model. If you're using the Razor for body shaving, it can also be an advantage to choose a long handle.

Twist-to-open / Butterfly opening

A twist-to-open Razor - also known as a butterfly opening Razor - is a Safety Razor with a special opening.

The Razor Blade has a swivel function at the end of the handle that uses special fine mechanics to make it easy to replace the Razor Blade, so you don't have to unscrew the "head" every time you change the Razor Blade for your shave.

Adjustable Safety Razor

With an adjustable Razor, you can set the angle of the blade and thus the aggressiveness of the razor. As a beginner, you can set the Razor to the mildest setting and slowly adjust it until you find the setting that gives you the best shave. The greater the distance, the more the Razor will grip.

Beards, beard growth, skin types and skin sensitivity vary greatly. This means that it's also individual when your shave is just right. It's all about trial and error - and an adjustable Razor is great for that.

Multi-blade scraper

Many men use a Gillette Mach3 or Gillette Fusion Razors. These are also known as multi-blade razors because each Razor Blade has more than just a single blade.

We can quickly agree that multi-blade scrapers often smell of discount and certainly don't look good in the bathroom. But fortunately, there's a solution to that! Here at Proshave, we have a large selection of multi-blade scrapers made from exclusive materials.

You can easily and quickly replace the rubber handle with a new, stylish handle made of aluminum, plum wood, ash, carbon, horn, moss oak, olive wood, porcelain, stainless steel or a completely different type.

Straight razor / Straight razor

A Straight razor is also known as a Razor or Straight razor. It's the classic model that more and more people are going back to in search of a traditional shave.

The advantage of using a classic razor is that you get a very close and smooth shave. You only need to run the blade over the skin once to remove the stubble, minimizing the risk of irritation and razor burn.

A straight razor requires little work on your part. This is because it has a fixed blade that cannot be replaced. It's therefore important that you clean, sharpen and care for it with a leather strap and abrasive paste when it starts to dull.

Shavette

A Shavette is in many ways similar to a classic straight razor, but with a more practical and modern approach.

Instead of a fixed blade, a Shavette uses replaceable Razor Blades that can be easily changed when they get dull. This means no more sharpening, strapping and other time-consuming maintenance.

You get the same precision and close shave as with a straight razor, but with greater convenience and maximum hygiene.
