It is the inside of the Wash Bag, in particular, that makes this Limited Edition truly special. The light-colored fabric is adorned with handwriting taken from an old document in Floris’ historical archive.

The handwriting comes from a letter written by Robert Floris to his parents on Jermyn Street while he was traveling abroad to source ingredients. This very journey later became part of the inspiration behind Floris Neroli Voyage Eau de Parfum.

The distinctive pattern of overlapping handwriting is the result of a technique known as cross-writing. In this method, the letter was first written in the usual way, after which the paper was rotated a quarter turn so that the writer could continue writing across the existing text.

The method was particularly widespread in the 18th and 19th centuries, when both paper and postage were expensive. This allowed the sender to fit much more text onto the same piece of paper.

Floris has transformed this historical detail into a decorative lining, giving the Wash Bag a subtle connection to the perfume house’s long history.
