Beard itch is an inflammation of the hair follicles of the beard hairs. It is usually caused by staphylococcus, which is a bacterium, and can occur if you use dirty shaving equipment. It is therefore important that you change the blade of your razor often and keep your shaving equipment clean.

It's also not a good idea to share your shaving equipment or borrow from others, as beard plague can be transmitted from person to person this way. You can prevent beard plague by being thorough with hygiene. Wash your face with a good face wash and dry yourself with a clean and fresh towel. Always finish shaving by rinsing your face in cold water to close the pores. Then apply an aftershave with anti-inflammatory and anti-septic properties to soothe and calm irritation and redness and reduce the risk of razor burn.
