Collection: Self Tanning

On this page, we have gathered our selection of self-tanners for both body and face. A self-tanner is the perfect choice when your skin needs a little extra summer glow and is a good, healthy alternative to the tanning bed. A self-tanner colors the top skin cells, and as these skin cells are continuously replaced, a self-tanner will typically keep the color for about a week.

The first step to beautiful, golden skin is to choose a self-tanner that matches your natural skin tone. Don't choose a completely dark version if you have fair skin. Many manufacturers divide their range into Light, Medium and Dark, so you can choose the product that suits you best. Self-tanners also come in different consistencies - we have oil, mousse, lotion, cream and spray in our range.

Remember to use a body scrub the day before applying your self-tanner to get a nice, even color. A well-moisturized skin accepts new products best, so use a moisturizing lotion on your face and body just before applying your self-tanner. Always remember to finish by washing your hands thoroughly with soap and water.

Self-tanner - the only guide you need

Self-tanners are an ideal choice for those who want a beautiful tan without resorting to tanning beds or sunbathing. By applying self-tanner evenly on the whole body and face, you can quickly achieve the attractive golden summer glow.

Guide to Self Tanning: Step by Step

1. Choose the right self-tanner:
- Type:
There are different types of self tanners such as creams, lotions, mousses, sprays and oil drops.
- Hue: Choose a tone that is one or two shades darker than your natural skin tone for a natural result.

2. Prepare the skin:
- Exfoliation:
It is important to use a good face scrub or body scrub for a good result. Remove dead skin cells by exfoliating your skin 24 hours before applying self-tanner. Focus extra on exposed areas such as knees, elbows and ankles.
- Shaving: Do this at least 24 hours before application to avoid irritation.
- Avoid moisturizers:
On the day of application, you should avoid moisturizer as this can prevent the self-tanner from setting properly.

3. Application:
- Use gloves:
This prevents staining of your palms.
- Work quickly:
Start from the feet and work upwards to prevent wrinkles or streaks. Apply in circular motions.
- Quantity: Use product sparingly around elbows, knees and ankles as these areas tend to absorb more product.
- Face: Choose a formula specially designed for the face or mix the regular self-tanner with your moisturizer for a more subtle color.

4. After application:
- Drying time: Avoid getting dressed, sweating or coming into contact with water for at least 4-8 hours.
- Avoid stains: Wear loose-fitting clothing and avoid sweaty activities during the time it takes for the tan to develop.
- Moisture: After the first shower, moisturize the skin daily to prolong the life of your tan.

5. Maintenance:
- Apply any again:
If you want a deeper tan or want to maintain the color, apply the self-tanner every 2-3 days.
- Exfoliation: Do this once a week to ensure your tan fades evenly. Use a mild scrub for the purpose.

6. Remove self-tanner:
- Exfoliate: Use a body scrub or an exfoliating glove.
- Baby oil: Apply oil to skin and leave for 10 minutes, then scrub.

7. Tips & tricks:
- Apply in the evening: This gives the product time to develop overnight.
- Avoid contact with water: Wear gloves during application to avoid stained palms.
