Guide to Shaving Foam with Shaving Soap

How to make a delicious Shaving Foam out of your Shaving Soap!

What's the best way to lather my Shaving Soap into a delicious, whipped cream-like Shaving Foam? Where do I start - and where do I end? And what do I do with the Shaving Brush after I've made my Shaving Foam? You're bound to have a lot of questions when you first start making your own Shaving Foam. We've made it easier for you and created a complete step-by-step guide on how to easily lather up a Shaving Soap to a perfect foam.

It takes a little patience to lather up the Soap to begin with. But once you get the hang of the technique after a time or two, you'll experience the satisfaction of making your own Shaving Foam. Your daily shave will become something special when you replace the canned Shaving Foam with a high-quality Shaving Soap.

1. Soften the Shaving Brush

Place the Shaving Brush in warm water so that the hairs can soak up water and become soft and supple.

Leave it to soak for a few minutes.

2. Prepare the Shaving Soap

Pour a little warm water over the Shaving Soap. This softens the surface and makes it easier to build up a rich and creamy lather.

3. Get your Shaving Brush ready

Take the Shaving Brush out of the water and give it a gentle squeeze so that most of the water runs off.
Proshave
Then shake the brush gently to get the last of the water out. The brush should just be damp - not wet.

4. Prepare the bowl

Pour the hot water out of the bowl.
Proshave
Pour the small amount of water left on the Shaving Soap into your bowl - it contains soap residue and provides extra good lather.

5. Load the broom with Soap

Run the Shaving Brush around the Shaving Soap in circular movements. Use both the tip and sides of the brush and lightly "pump" it against the Soap. You'll feel more resistance and hear a distinct rubbing as the brush starts to collect Soap.
Proshave
When the hairs clump together slightly, the broom is properly charged.

6. Build up the foam

Now work the broom around the bowl with circular and pumping movements to build a dense, airy and creamy foam.

7. Adjust the consistency

Add a little water at a time until the foam becomes smooth, fat and shiny.
Proshave
The foam should be so dense that it sticks to the sides of the bowl when you run the broom over them. Large bubbles or very fluffy foam means that too much water has been added.
Proshave

8. Collect the foam

Pick up the finished foam with the Shaving Brush.

9. apply and shave

Distribute the foam evenly on your face and enjoy a shave with a rich, protective and luxurious Shaving Foam - just the way it should be.

Other great tips for you:

Test if the consistency is correct:

You can test the consistency of your Shaving Foam by applying it to your hand in an even layer. When you squeeze your hand and open it again, the Shaving Foam should still be opaque and creamy.

Hang the Shaving Brush in a holder

It's a good idea to hang your Shaving Brush on a holder so that any excess water can drain away. This ensures that the Shaving Brush will last for many years to come.
