Here at Proshave, we are committed to guiding you to use the very best products! It can be difficult to know which of our many products are best for you and your hair if you don't know your hair type. Luckily, it's easy to find out, which is why we've created this short guide on how to find your hair type. Just follow these five easy steps - and then you can easily shop for the products that best suit your hair!
Please note: The guide can be used to identify both men and women's hair types!
Start here and follow the 5 steps
Start by washing your hair with a mild shampoo and avoid using conditioner or other hair care products. This will give you a clean and natural base to work with.
After washing your hair, let it dry naturally without using a Hair Dryer or styling products. This allows you to observe its natural state.
Step 3: Identify your hair texture
Fine texture
Fine texture
Fine hair texture means that the hair strands are thin and almost invisible when rolled between your fingers. It is easy to style and can often lack volume.
Medium texture
Medium texture
Medium hair texture is the most common. The hair strands are neither thick nor thin, and they don't feel coarse or fine between your fingers.
Coarse texture
Coarse texture
Coarse hair texture involves thick strands of hair that are easy to feel and feel coarser between the fingers. This hair tends to be more voluminous and can be more difficult to style.

Step 4: Evaluate your hair to determine your hair type
Greasy
Oily hair will feel oily or greasy within a day or two of washing. It may appear heavy and flat, especially at the roots.
Dry
Dry hair will feel dry, brittle and brittle, especially at the ends. It may tend to be dull and lack shine.
Normal
Normal hair is balanced and not too dry or too oily. It feels soft and smooth and has a natural shine.
Combined
Combination hair is a mix of oily and dry, where the roots can be oily while the ends can be dry or brittle.

Step 5: Assess your scalp
Beyond the hair itself, it's important to assess your scalp, as different scalp types can affect the overall condition of your hair. There are three main categories of scalp types:
Oily scalp
An oily scalp produces excess oil, which can lead to oily hair and possibly dandruff.
Dry scalp
A dry scalp can lead to dry, itchy scalp and dandruff.
Normal scalp
A normal scalp is balanced and not too dry or too oily.
Congratulations! Now you've identified your hair type and can find the right products
You've now gone through all five steps and know your hair and scalp type.
