Mühle Safety Razor, Purist, Ebonite

The 'Purist' series is designed simply - here the focus is on beautiful craftsmanship in beautifully finished wood. Characteristic of this series is the design where the handle has a slight curve and a wide shaped collar at the top.

The handle is made of Ebonite. It looks like marble, but it is not. Ebonite is a hard rubber compound made from natural rubber and sulphur. The result is a beautiful material with deep black and strong red hues. The name of the fabric alludes to its use as a substitute for the ebony wood. Ebonite is used for saxophone and clarinet mouthpieces, pipes and writing implements - and now also on elegant shaving utensils from Mühle.

Shaving with a safety razor takes a bit of practice, like anything new. The skin also needs some time to get used to shaving. Follow these instructions if you haven't shaved the old-school way before:

- Wet your skin thoroughly with warm water.
- Rub a little pre-shave into the skin.
- Make a nice foamy shaving cream in your shaving bowl and lather it up with the shaving cream.
- Massage the shaving cream thoroughly into the skin with the Shaving Brush to lift the stubble. The more you lather your beard, the easier your razor will glide.
- It is recommended that you hold your safety razor at an obtuse angle (about 30°) into the skin.
- Start with the cheeks and let the razor glide lightly over the skin. Always remember to shave with your beard.

The DE (Double Edge) razor fits the classic razor blades.
