Guide: How to find your skin type

There is a big difference between skin types and thus also in how we should care for them. It is important to take care of your skin, and even more important that you give it the right care. The skin is your largest organ, and has a multitude of important functions for your body and health. What determines your skin type is the moisture balance your skin has.

However, remember that the skin changes state in order to protect the body, this can e.g. be influenced by your diet, the weather, pollution and other conditions. So keep in mind that although you can basically find your skin type, also take into account the conditions your skin is exposed to.

Just follow this simple guide and you will easily find your skin type.

The first thing you need to do:
- Wash your skin in water and do not apply cream.
- Notice how it feels immediately after washing and again a few hours later

What is normal skin?

You won't really notice any problems with your skin.
The skin feels comfortable and relaxed, even if you are not wearing cream.

What is dry skin?

Your skin will feel tight and uncomfortable shortly after you wash it.
It gets worse the longer it takes before you apply cream.
Use face care with extra moisturizing ingredients.

What is oily skin?

Your skin will feel fine immediately after you wash it, but a few hours later it will feel greasy and appear shiny - especially in the T-zone (which is the forehead, nose and chin).
Use oil-free face care.

What is combination skin?

The skin feels fine after washing, but will later have some areas that are dry and others that are oily. It is often the cheeks that are dry, while the T-zone (forehead, nose and chin) appears shiny.

What is sensitive skin?

Sensitive skin is not a skin type, but because there are so many people who have it, most major brands take this into account when considering skin types. The skin becomes more sensitive if it lacks moisture, as this will make it less flexible and resistant.
